Important

This article provides general education. Seek a qualified health professional for personal diagnosis or treatment, and use local emergency services for urgent danger.

Center the person's choices

Ask what kind of support the person wants: transport, company, reminders or simply listening. Do not circulate their story, photos or interpretations in family groups without permission.

Avoid blame, frightening labels and pressure to repeat sessions. Support sleep, food, prescribed care and ordinary daily connection alongside spiritual practices.

Help connect care

Offer to attend a medical or mental-health appointment if invited, and help keep an accurate list of medicines and symptoms. Do not make treatment changes on the family's authority.

If there is immediate danger, severe confusion, collapse or inability to remain safe, contact appropriate emergency or professional help and stay with the person when safe.
