Protect the treated skin
Follow the written instructions provided for keeping the area clean and covered. Avoid touching the sites with unwashed hands, picking at the skin or sharing towels.
Circular marks and local tenderness can occur after cupping. Ask your provider how long they expect these changes to last and what activities or skin products to avoid.
Know the warning signs
Seek prompt medical advice for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, pus, fever, persistent bleeding, severe pain, fainting or symptoms that worry you. Do not rely on social media advice for a possible infection.
