Important

This article provides general education. Seek a qualified health professional for personal diagnosis or treatment, and use local emergency services for urgent danger.

Bring an accurate list

Prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, herbal remedies and supplements can affect bleeding, blood pressure, alertness, allergy or healing. Bring names, doses and the reason you take them.

Mention recent injections, surgery and previous unusual bleeding. The practitioner should record the information and seek clinical input when needed.

Never self-adjust treatment

Do not skip or stop anticoagulants, antiplatelet medicine or any prescribed treatment to qualify for Hijama. The prescriber must weigh the medical risk of a change.

If the procedure is not appropriate, choosing dry cupping is not automatically safe either. Postponement or another supportive option may be the responsible decision.
